Fortnite 2.17 Update Patch Notes

Fortnite 2.17 Update Patch Notes (Fortnite 8.40.2)

The Fortnite 2.17 update patch notes (Fortnite 8.40.2have been shared by developer Epic Games. The new Fortnite patch stakes aim at “an issue which caused console players to be kicked from Save the World matches.” This fun-spoiling problem is why the new Fortnite update today is being deployed as soon as possible, to ensure PvE players can enjoy the game again.  The 2.17 (8.40.2) update is now rolling out across PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iPhone. These changes are being implemented with no downtime required, meaning that gamers can immediately carry on playing, once the patch is downloaded and installed.

Fortnite 2.17 Update Patch Notes

The Fortnite 2.17 update patch notes (Fortnite 8.40.2) were shared via Twitter. Despite this, Epic Games has been pretty thorough in explaining what the patch is fixing. The developer explained: “…Fix an issue which caused console players to be kicked from Save the World matches. There will be no downtime.”

This is the second patch following the main 8.40 update, which added a number of new modes and bug fixes. Unfortunately, this generous update also added some issues, which were first targeted by the 2.16 (8.40.1) patch, and now this 2.17 (8.40.2) update.

Here’s hoping this update helps squash the last of the bugs. It’s not yet known whether or not this Monday patch release will affect future content updates, which are normally rolled out on Tuesdays/Wednesdays.

As mentioned in the intro, the Fortnite 2.17 update does not require any downtime. This means users won’t need to wait for Epic Games to implement changes while servers are down. Instead, players can simply download and install the latest patch, boot the game up, and then carry on playing. (If the update doesn’t appear automatically, try the “Check for updates” option to manually start the download.)

We’ll be keeping an eye out for any dataminers who dive into the latest files, though this does seem to be a small patch that contains a single fix.
