Sea of Thieves how to fish

Sea of Thieves Fishing | How to fish

Fishing is a new feature added to Sea of Thieves in the game’s massive Anniversary update. Since the update’s release, players have been able to dive into the game and start catching some fish. But how exactly does Sea of Thieves fishing work? Well, we’re glad you asked. This guide will teach you everything you need to know from how to equip your fishing rod to how to go fishing, and even where to find fishing spots all around the map. So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get started!

Sea of Thieves Fishing Guide

The first thing you’ll need to do to start fishing in Sea of Thieves is equip your fishing rod. Thankfully you won’t need to go searching for this item, as it will automatically be available in your equipment wheel. All you need to do is simply open up your equipment wheel, transition to the second portion of it, and then select your fishing rod. Easy as pie, right?

With your fishing rod equipped, it’s time to find a good fishing spot. You can go fishing just about anywhere in Sea of Thieves, so long as there is water and enough room for fish to spawn. Of course, you’ll find the best fishing spots as you explore the world, but don’t be afraid to just pop your anchor down somewhere and then toss your line overboard. There are plenty of fish waiting to be caught out there in the wide, open seas.

Before you throw your line in, though, make sure you select one of the three types of bait available to players in Sea of Thieves. You can collect earthworms, leeches, and grubs. Each type of bait will attract different types of fish, so you’ll want to experiment and find out which bait works best for the type of fish you want to reel in. To change up your bait, you’ll need to open the equipment wheel while your fishing rod is equipped. Next, look for the bait option and select it. Finally, select the type of bait that you want to use. We’ll talk more about bait in another of our Sea of Thieves guides, so be on the look out for that soon.

How to Fish in Sea of Thieves

Once you’ve learned the basics of fishing, it’s time to talk about catching fish. Sure, it might seem easy, but if you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll find yourself with a few broken lines and several fish swimming away from you. To catch a fish in Sea of Thieves, wait until it bites at your line. When this happens, pull the rod the opposite direction that the fish is swimming. If the fish swims to your right, pull the rod left, and vice versa. Do not start reeling the line in until it goes slack and the fish stops fighting as much.

When the fish stops and the line goes slack, start reeling it in. Make sure you stop as soon as the fish begins to move again, though, or the line might break. From here, all you need to do is keep battling with the fish until you manage to reel it all the way in, catching it completely. Now that the fish is on your hook, you can grab it off the line and add it to your inventory. Congratulations on completing your first bout of Sea of Thieves fishing.

But what do you do with the fish after you catch them? Well, there are a few options. You can either sell or cook your fish. Cooking your fish will allow you to eat it, which can be done by finding one of the many cooking fires scattered around the world. Of course, if you really want to maximize your profits, you’ll want to seek out Merrick, or any of the other representatives of The Hunter’s Call clan. By talking to them, you’ll be able to offer up your fish and sell it off, adding a few more coins to your pockets.

Now that you know how Sea of Thieves fishing works, you can head into the game and fish to your heart’s content. We’ll have plenty of additional strategy content coming to help you navigate the winding seas of the latest Sea of Thieves update, so make sure you keep your eyes glued to Game Revolution for even more help mastering the oceans and becoming the best pirate, merchant, or fisherman you can be.
