Make sure you find another player to compete against. It's still fun against AI opponents, but twice the game with human opposition.
Move your thumb in a very narrow circle - you need never push the virtual stick very far in any direction unless you're in a race across the rink for the puck.
Try to bounce the puck off the wall and in - you've more chance of scoring that way than from a direct shot.
