Gears 5 Classic Maps

Gears 5 Classic Maps | Will Gridlock, Blood Drive, and Jacinto return?

It might seem obvious that there will be Gears 5 classic maps in The Coalition’s latest game, but there is some confusion as to whether maps from previous games will return. Legendary multiplayer maps like Gridlock, Blood Drive, and Jacinto would be standouts for the developer to bring back, but players aren’t sure if they’ll be part of the latest entry in the franchise. If you’re one of those, our Gears 5 classic maps guide will give you all of the details. Find out if they’re returning or if they’ve been replaced by new maps instead.

Gears 5 Classic Maps

Before we look at whether Gears 5 classic maps will be back, let’s have a look at multiplayer maps in general for the game. At launch, there are 11 maps. Seven of these are for Arena maps, and the other four are Hive maps for the new Escape multiplayer mode.

The seven Arena maps, which players will be able to vote on for multiplayer modes apart from Escape, are Asylum, Bunker, District, Exhibit, Icebound, Training Grounds, and Vasgar. As you can see from that list, there’s no place for Gridlock, Blood Drive, or Jacinto. As such, they aren’t available at launch for you to play on.

That isn’t to say that they won’t return sometime in the future. Microsoft and The Coalition have previously discussed adding in new multiplayer maps post-launch, so there’s always a possibility that they could return at some point. Given that these areas are based on past Gears of War games and don’t feature in Gears 5, however, there is a chance that they won’t show up at all.

If you want to get your fix of these maps, you’ll have to play Gears games that support them. Alternatively, you could give these new maps a chance. You never know, you might find a new favorite if you do.
