Our Borderlands 3 DLC roadmap guide is here to provide you with all of the details you’ll need to know about post-launch content. Gearbox is going crazy with its offerings of free and paid expansions, ranging from limited-time themed events right through to campaign add-ons. If you want to know about one thing in particular or everything that’ll be coming to the RPG shooter, we’ve got you covered. Check out this Borderlands 3 DLC roadmap article for more, and prepare yourself for a glut of content, Vault Hunter.
Borderlands 3 DLC Roadmap | Bloody Harvest
First up will be the release of a special Halloween event called Bloody Harvest. Expected to drop in-game before this spooky holiday, Bloody Harvest will be a free expansion that’ll bring a slew of new content to Borderlands 3.

There’s no official date for this first expansion yet, but we’ll know more soon once the date nears. We know it’ll be Halloween-themed, so you can expect some scary goings-on to occur. Not only that, but there should new loot, weapons, skins, and missions for you too. Once we have more information on what Bloody Harvest will entail, we’ll be sure to update this page. For now, this is all we know.
Borderlands 3 DLC Roadmap | Maliwan Takedown
Next up is another free expansion. The Maliwan Takedown DLC pack will add a whole new area to Borderlands 3 for you to explore. Not only that, but new enemies and a new boss fight will be brought into the fold too. Taking on this boss and his horde won’t be easy but, if you’re a high enough level to defeat them, there will be plenty of powerful and unique rewards for you to loot from them.
Again, we don’t have a definitive release date for the Maliwan Takedown update. It is likely to drop before the end of 2019, however, as the next section of this guide alludes to.
Borderlands 3 DLC Roadmap | Paid DLC 1
As 2019 draws to a close, Gearbox will release the first paid expansion for Borderlands 3. That means that the Maliwan Takedown event will be brought out before December. If Bloody Harvest drops in late October, expect the Maliwan Takedown to come in around mid to late November.
Anyway, the first Borderlands 3 paid DLC will bring much more content than its predecessors. The only things we know about it so far are that it’ll add new main and side quests to Borderlands 3. It’ll also add new weapons, other rewards, enemies, and possibly a new location for you to earn, kill, and explore.
Gearbox and publisher 2K Games haven’t revealed the name of DLC 1 yet. With the game only launching on September 13, it would be remiss of them to spoil any endgame content by telling us its title. We’ll find out sometime in the near future, but for now, there’s no word as people are still playing the main campaign and don’t want spoilers.
Borderlands 3 DLC Roadmap | 2020 content
Gearbox and 2K haven’t detailed what else players can expect after 2019 ends. This is natural as they’ll want you to focus on the main game and these first three batches of DLC.
We’ll find out what free and paid expansions, as well as other limited-time events, are coming after the turn of the year. There’s always a chance that we could get something Christmas-themed in the lead up to the holidays. That’s not a given though, especially with DLC 1 likely to be released around that time.
Once we find out more about Borderlands 3‘s DLC, we’ll be sure to update this guide. For now, this is all we have for you.
