While new Fortnite events come and go all the time, very few offer the chance to win a real-world prize. However, the Fortnite Fishing Frenzy Tournament is offering just that: The chance to earn a very rare real-world engraved Llama Trophy. Participation provides a reward in the form of the Play to Win spray, and lucky players may even earn a free Bottom Feeder Pickaxe, assuming they hook the right fish. Fortnite Fishing Frenzy | Tournament dates and times
The first-ever Fortnite Fishing Frenzy tournament event kicks off on Friday, November 22, and runs all the way through Sunday, November 24. The festivities begin at 8 a.m. Eastern time on Friday and will conclude at 8 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday.

As the tournament’s name implies, Fishing Frenzy encourages Fortnite players to go out and catch as many fish as possible during the three-day event. It’s not necessary to don the Triggerfish outfit, though players will find that it’s re-appeared in the Fortnite shop. However, the fish do need to be caught with a standard rod and reel—catches with the harpoon are ineligible and do not count toward the total.
Fortnite Fishing Frenzy | Rules and categories
There are four different Fortnite Fishing Frenzy categories in which players can compete. Even better, the top winner in each category is eligible to receive the real-world engraved Llama Trophy:
- Top Angler – Catch the most fish in a single match
- Small Fry Champion – Catch the most Small Fry during the competition
- Flopper Champion – Catch the most Floppers during the competition
- Slurpfish Champion – Catch the most Slurpfish during the competition
For each of the aforementioned categories, only one champion will be rewarded for each regional server. In this event specifically, that means one winner for North American servers as well as one for Oceania, Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Brazil servers. For those keeping count at home, this means there will potentially be six winners in each of the four categories, for a total of 24 Llama Trophy winners total.
Regardless of actual tournament progress, anyone who catches a Mythic Goldfish during the event will automatically receive their very own Bottom Feeder Pickaxe. Best of all, anyone who simply participates in the fishing mini-game throughout the course of the event will receive the Play to Win spray entirely for free.
As for the rules themselves, things are simple: Only fish caught with the Fishing Rod count toward the objective. That’s right, don’t go shooting harpoons at fish hoping to win easy prizes. Other than that, players need to be at least 13 years old to participate, and they need to make sure they have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on their accounts to be eligible to receive prizes.
