If you suck at aiming with a rifle invest on a shot gun. As soon as you reach level 9, go grab the Double-barrel Shotgun.
Using the shotgun is simple and very effective: aim at the "crotch area". You'll get more damage points that way.
If you are dueling against someone who uses a Shotgun, if you can make sure you're equipped with the Cast Iron Plate (1800 Gold) so that you won't take much damage.
