When you first arrive at your deserted island getaway in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it’s easy to just slap buildings down without much thought for how that could impact infrastructure and/or growth in the future. With the arrival of new inhabitants and stores, your layout can get pretty cramped if you aren’t careful. It’s fortunate that a conversation with Tom Nook can facilitate relocating buildings, then — but what about Resident Services? Can you move Resident Services in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it’s possible to move any home or shop. It’s also possible to move Blathers’ museum once you’ve upgraded to the brick and mortar Resident Services building from the initial tent. Unfortunately, the one building that cannot be moved in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch is Resident Services.

At the beginning of ACNH you can choose where to place Resident Services, but, after that, it can’t be moved again. Neither its starting or upgraded iterations can be relocated, so here’s hoping that your initial placement isn’t too terrible.

  • It isn’t possible to move the Resident Services tent in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
  • It isn’t possible to move the upgraded Resident Services building in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

It’s unfortunate that Resident Services can’t be moved, but, unless Nintendo decides to patch in functionality at a later date, you’ll just need to make peace with the current location. Of course, there’s also the option to delete your island and start over while being careful to place Resident Sevices optimally next time. Sacrificing all of your Animal Crossing: New Horizons progress up to that point might be a little drastic, though.
