Best Steam Game Festival Summer Edition 2020 Demos
Here’s a look at some of the hottest Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition 2020 demos available for download. Though this event is meant to highlight games coming out sometime in the next twelve months, we’ve chosen to feature games that will all come out later this calendar year. If you find one that suits your fancy, you can download its demo from the official Steam Game Festival page.
Destroy All Humans! Remake
Perhaps the most popular game featured in the Steam Game Festival Summer Edition 2020 is the upcoming remake of Destroy All Humans! Often revered as a cult-classic game, the remake is built completely from the ground up, emphasizing all the things that made the original title so well-loved. However, since this isn’t a by-the-numbers remake, there should be plenty of new content and more than a few surprises for fans to discover.
Ghostrunner
Bored with slow-paced games? Are you eager to dive into a post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk-inspired world? Then look no further than Ghostrunner, the upcoming first-person action game from One More Level and 3D Realms. This is a hack-and-slash-type title that offers plenty of excitement thanks to its hero’s supernatural speed and very useful bullet-dodging abilities. Even better, the whole experience takes place in a lush, neon-soaked world highlighting humankind’s seemingly inevitable ruin.
The Survivalists
The Survivalists takes the popular universe of The Escapists and throws in loads of multiplayer sandbox-style gameplay. Players will join forces to build bases, complete adventures, find and trade loot, and ultimately explore a massive island filled with crafting opportunities. Of course, the titular Survivalists aren’t the only ones on the island — perils such as temples and raiders await those bold enough to venture outside of their comfort zones.
Starmancer
Indie games are great because they’re often the best place to find fresh new ideas. In that sense, Starmancer is a game like few others on the market. In it, you assume control over an artificial intelligence tasked with ensuring humanity’s survival. To complete the job, you’ll need to build and manage a space station, populate it by growing humans, create power and water grids, assign jobs to colonists, and make sure your efforts aren’t hindered by enemies of humanity.
Spiritfarer
It’s hard not to be immediately charmed by Spiritfarer‘s hand-drawn aesthetic. However, the game’s real pitch lies beneath its pretty surface: Players assume control of Stella, a Spiritfarer who is tasked with ferrying spirits of the deceased to the afterlife. The action plays out similarly to other simulation or management games, with activities such as mining, fishing, farming, and crafting. It also throws in features such as platforming levels, ferry management, and all manner of customization options for the protagonist, their ferry, and even their pet cat.
Grounded
Developed by the talented team at Obsidian Entertainment, Grounded is centered around a group of kids who have been shrunk down to ant-sized scale. Think Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, but in game form. To survive, players will have to fight off insects, craft shelter and armaments, and build a fortified base. Even better, the game features online co-op play, so you and your buddies can get together to fend off swarms of surprisingly intelligent bugs.
