The brand new Fortnite 2.81 update is available to download and install on PS4 right now. It’s not a big update, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t important. Besides, you’ll need to update the game on PS4 to continue playing it anyway. Skip to the end of this guide to read through the complete list of Fortnite 2.81 update patch notes. Immediately below this, however, you’ll find a detailed description of what’s been fixed in the Fortnite August 20 PS4 update.
Fortnite 2.81 Update Patch Notes
VERSION 2.81
- 13.40.2 Release – Stability fixes to improve Fortnite.
That’s it. There is just one patch note in the new Fortnite PS4 update. The official Fortnite Status Twitter account tells us that the new update is a “maintenance patch on PS4 for stability.” Once you have downloaded and installed the small update on PS4, you should, hopefully, notice that the game runs a little better and is more stable.
A similar update was released on the PC and Nintendo Switch versions of the game on August 18, 2020, too. The game is becoming more stable, seemingly platform by platform before the big update which is expected to release next week. Don’t be surprised if a similar small maintenance patch is released on the Xbox One version of the game within the next couple of days.
While this update is a small one, too, the 2.79 update was a biggy. That Joy Ride update brought with it the ability to drive cars, trucks, taxis, and more. For the last fortnight, Fortnite has been awash with vehicles and plenty of new cosmetic options. Unfortunately, it has been awash, too, with a slice of controversy following the Mega Drop.
If you’ve been living under a rock for the last week or so, Fortnite has been removed from the iOS App Store and Google Play Store thanks to the new ways to pay for V-Bucks on mobile. In retaliation, Epic Games has begun a lawsuit against both companies. It’s a tumultuous time for Fortnite and Epic Games.
