Phasmophobia is the latest Early Access release from the developers at Kinetic Games. Of course, being in Steam Early Access means the game is occasionally prone to bugs or errors. One of these bugs results in the game stalling at the loading screen, getting stuck at 90 percent. The news is bad and good: While you can fix the stuck loading screen, you may lose some of your in-game progress.
Phasmophobia | How to fix loading screen stuck at 90 percent
When the Phasmophobia loading screen gets stuck at 90 percent, it typically means you have a corrupt save file. Unfortunately, this means you’ll need to delete the corrupted data. Once you do, you will no longer be stuck on the loading screen.
Depending on how much progress you’ve made, this may not be a problem. However, your past progress doesn’t really count for anything if the game is always stuck at 90 percent while loading. You’ll have to bite the bullet on this one.
Here’s how to fix the stuck on loading screen error and get the game to load past 90 percent:
- Open the folder where you installed Phasmophobia
- This is typically found in C:Users[username]AppDataLocalLowKinetic GamesPhasmophobia
- Locate the saveData.txt file and delete it
- If you want, you can make a copy of the file (CTRL+C, then CTRL+V), or alternatively copy the contents into a new text file somewhere safe
- After your save file has been deleted, run the game again
It’s so far unclear what causes Phasmophobia save data to become corrupted. Chances are good the issue has already been reported to the developers. It’s possible that a fix for this bug may be issued in a future patch, which is why it’s a good idea to back up your save file. With that said, you’re likely to lose any progress made between deleting the file and the time when the patch might be issued.

This is an annoying bug for sure. Getting stuck at 90 percent loading makes it seem like the game is experiencing a connection problem. That’s apparently not the case. If you ever get stuck on a loading screen, do the developers (and other players) a favor and report the bug to the team at Kinetic Games through the Phasmophobia Discord server.
