Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit allows players to race around their homes with a remote-controlled Mario or Luigi, but early adopters are left wondering where their Mario Kart Live game cartridge is. So is there a physical cartridge for Mario Kart Live, and if so, where do you get it or buy it?
Is there a physical Mario Kart Live cartridge?
The Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit box contains your remote-controlled Mario or Luigi racer, a set of gates for them to race through, and the necessary instruction manual and wires required to get you set up. However, the one thing it doesn’t contain is a game cartridge.
This is because Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is an online-only game that requires you to download it from the Nintendo eShop. To do so, you must do the following:
- Go to the Nintendo eShop on your Switch
- Search ‘MKLive’
- Download and install the free Mario Kart Live software
This means that those who like collecting physical media won’t be able to do so with Mario Kart Live, as the game only requires you to download the free software in order to play it.
Can you buy a physical Mario Kart Live cartridge?
So is there an option to buy a Mario Kart Live cartridge, even if the game doesn’t come with one? Nintendo currently doesn’t ship any bundles of Mario Kart Live with a physical cartridge, and while the actual sets contain a bunch of items including the kart, gates, and wires, the cartridge is missing.
Will Nintendo offer a physical Mario Kart Live cartridge in the future? While collectors would appreciate a physical copy of the game, given that MKL is online-only already, it’s unlikely that we can expect a physical edition of the game to release on cartridge in the future.
