Warframe players want to know if the game has crossplay and cross-save. These features are desirable at any time, but with the launch of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S, whether or not Warframe is cross-platform capable or not is an important question. Unfortunately, the answer isn’t as clean-cut as players would like it to be.
Does Warframe have crossplay in 2021?
Crossplay is a feature that the Warframe developers have spoken about several times in the past. However, as of writing, the game only supports cross-platform play on two systems. The PS4 and PS5 versions of Warframe allow users on both consoles to play together.
The Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC versions of Warframe do not have crossplay. The blog announcing the PS5 version of the game mentions that details about Xbox would be coming soon, so we can assume that Xbox One and Xbox Series X may have cross-platform support soon.
Unfortunately, there’s been no confirmation of a unified crossplay for Warframe. The best we’re likely to get is cross-platform functionality within brands.
Does Warframe have cross-save or cross-progression in 2021?
Many games that don’t have crossplay at least have cross-save. This allows players to bring their progression across platforms if they want to change the system on which they play the game. Unfortunately, Warframe doesn’t have a universal cross-save either.
The story for Warframe cross-save is the same as it is for crossplay. Currently, the only platforms with cross-progression functionality are the PS4 and PS5. Again, Xbox will likely also get this feature in the near future, but it too will probably be limited to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Hopefully, at some point, Warframe will feature full crossplay and cross-save. The game has been released on every major platform, excluding mobile, and the increased functionality would make it all the more attractive to both new and current players.
