Despite only launching at the end of last year, there are already reports of PS5 controller issues. In fact, staff here at GameRevolution have found that their DualSense triggers have gotten loose. This makes them far too easy to press, resulting in random misfires in games like Call of Duty: Warzone. It also negatively impacts the Advanced Trigger feature. Obviously this is a problem that needs a solution. Here’s how to fix the loose trigger on the PS5 controller.
Loose trigger on PS5 controller fix
To fix a loose PS5 controller trigger, users should:
- First, check to see if the controller is still in warranty.
- If the controller is in warranty, it may be easiest to just return it for a new one.
- If the controller is out of warranty or the user wants to repair it themselves*, they can open the pad and fix it.
- The issue is likely to do with the trigger spring bending.
- Replacing or reinstalling the spring in the reverse way can fix this problem.
*Any repair attempts by the user may cause additional damage to the controller. GameRevolution recommends users contact PlayStation directly for repairs.
It’s unfortunate to see the PS5 DualSense controller triggers failing so early on. Here’s hoping a lesson has been learned at Sony to help avoid these issues with future units. The PS5 controller’s Advanced Triggers feature is great, but that doesn’t work so great when the trigger is always loose.
At the time of writing, users will likely have a valid warranty for their PS5 and/or DualSense controller. Here’s hoping the controller replacement is quick and simple.
