Back 4 Blood UE4-Gobi error fix

Back 4 Blood UE4-Gobi Game has crashed error fix

Some users trying to play the Back 4 Blood open beta have been getting a UE4-Gobi error stating the game has crashed along with the text, “Fatal error!” Unfortunately, there are no helpful steps given to troubleshoot the issue, and the devs haven’t published a fix or workaround. There are a few things users have found to fix this issue, but the UE4-Gobi error doesn’t have a definitive solution yet.

How do I fix the UE4-Gobi error in Back 4 Blood?

Back 4 Blood UE4-Gobi Error message

Some users are getting the UE4-Gobi error as soon as they try to launch the game, while others are getting it during gameplay. Strangely, for one person, the message appeared without the game actually crashing. They were able to continue playing the game as usual. However, when they were unable to close the message when it appeared.

Since the UE4-Gobi error can pop up during different times, it’s hard to narrow down a cause for it. Obviously, it’s an Unreal Engine issue, but even the log text files generated by the crash don’t contain any helpful information. It’s possible that some useful telemetry is being sent back to the devs, but we haven’t found a way to access it.

So far, two fixes have been reported for the UE4-Gobi error. Some users have found that simply updating their graphics card driver to the latest version prevented it from occurring again. So, those that are experiencing UE4-Gobi should ensure they’ve updated their GPU to the most recent driver.

Another fix may be to install the Epic Games Launcher and have it running when trying to launch the game on Steam. It’s possible that when the Epic Games Launcher is installing that it’s updating some Unreal Engine-related files as well.

Unfortunately, aside from the two fixes above, we’ve found nothing that is a surefire solution. We were also unable to replicate the issue on our end. Hopefully, this error isn’t one we’ll see in the final game.
