Fans of Fortnite on mobile devices will be hoping and praying that the game is restored to iPhone and iOS platforms in the future. Very controversially, Epic Games removed Fortnite from the Apple App Store in summer 2020. This has left Fortnite players unable to take the battle to their iPhones in the year since. If you’re still holding out for Fortnite mobile’s return, then we’ve got all the details on whether it’s coming back to iPhone or not.
Fortnite iOS and iPhone: Is it coming back?
At the moment, it isn’t worth holding your breath over Fortnite for iOS and iPhone. There’s currently nothing to suggest the Battle Royale sensation will be returning to Apple’s App Store at any point in the near future.
One of the biggest games out now, Fortnite was removed from the App Store in August 2020. This was over a legal dispute with Apple. Epic Games added an in-app store to purchase V-Bucks, rather than doing it through the App Store’s system. As a violation of Apple’s terms of service for iOS applications, Fortnite was subsequently removed, as Epic Games failed to back down.
This has meant that for the past year, we’ve been unable to play Fortnite on iOS devices like the iPhone. It also seems like Epic Games aren’t backing down in their legal dispute with Apple, either. In March 2021, they filed a complaint to the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority. This was on top of separate lawsuits in the US, Australia, and the EU. While this legal battle rages on, you can guarantee that Fortnite won’t be returning to iOS and iPhone devices. It’s a shame, but neither Epic Games nor Apple are stepping back. Therefore, we could be in for a long wait.
In other news, Aliens: Fireteam Elite is out now. We’ve got details on how many missions the game has, as well as if you can play it in single-player.
