House of Ashes is coming out soon, and players are wondering if it’s the last game in The Dark Picture Anthology. Supermassive’s horror series consists of smaller, focused games based on folklore from around the world. While these are only loosely connected by a mysterious character called the Curator, fans are fond of their no-holds-barred emphasis on choice and consequences.
Will there be more Dark Pictures Anthology games after House of Ashes?
House of Ashes won’t be the last Dark Pictures Anthology game. If plans remain the same as they were in 2019 when Supermassive CEO Pete Samuels stated there will be eight games.
The original plan with The Dark Pictures Anthology was to release two games per year. However, Supermassive has only managed to produce Man of Medan and Little Hope, which is half that number. The COVID-19 pandemic likely had an effect on the series, and it’s possible we may see a quicker release cycle as the world recovers.
For now, we don’t have any idea of what the fourth game will be like. In the past, a preview for the next game has been included as an easter egg, and we can expect to see the same in House of Ashes. We’ve had haunted ships, witches, and demons, so who knows what comes next?
With all its time being spent on The Dark Pictures Anthology, fans are wondering if we’ll see an Until Dawn 2. Though the Dark Pictures games have been similar in style, they’re decidedly AA productions, and many are interested in seeing a title with the length and production value of Until Dawn. Unfortunately, though there was a side game, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, and a prequel, The Inpatient, there’s been no word of an Until Dawn 2 being in production. For now, players will have to be content in getting their Supermassive horror fix from The Dark Pictures series.
