With Forza Horizon 5 releasing directly after Forza Horizon 4, fans are noticing the absence of the Forza Motorsport series. Those who are looking for a sim-based approach to racing are wondering when Forza Motorsport 8 will get a release date and whether it’ll come to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
What are Forza Motorsport 8’s release date and platforms?
Forza Motorsport 8 won’t be getting a release date on any platform. The eighth entry of the series is a “reboot” titled Forza Motorsport. The game will be developed by Turn 10 Studios, as past titles have been, but there’s been no announcement of a release date or a release window for the Forza Motorsport reboot.
With Forza Horizon 5 releasing November 9, 2021, we would guess that Forza Motorsport 8 won’t be launch until November 2022 at the earliest. However, given the lack of news concerning the Forza Motorsport reboot since its initial reveal at E3 2020, it’s possible that we may not see it release until 2023 or 2024.
There’s little information available about the Forza Motorsport reboot, so it’s hard to guess the platforms on which it’ll release. If it launches in 2022, we guess that it has a good chance of coming out on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, past that date, we’d be surprised if the game is compatible with the Xbox One. The older console is definitely holding the series back at this point, and Turn 10 would probably prefer to optimize the reboot for the faster storage and more powerful hardware of the Series X|S.
In any case, the next Forza Motorsport will be a revamp of the series. As to what that means besides better graphics, we have no clue. Perhaps there’ll be new race and vehicle types. On the other hand, maybe we’ll get less content for more money. It’s always a gamble these days.
