Elden Ring Boc Locations Questlinie Larval Tear

Elden Ring Boc the Seamster Locations Questline: Should I Give Him the Larval Tear?

Finding Boc the Seamster’s locations in Elden Ring allows players to alter their clothes for free. Furthermore, it will enable them to experience the tale of a poor demi-human with a face of mud and a heart of gold, and his story is one of the saddest of all the Lands Between’s denizens. Below, we’ll cover his journey and whether players should give Boc the Larval Tear when he asks to be reborn.

Elden Ring Boc Questline Locations

Boc the Seamster is one of a few questlines in Elden Ring that doesn’t seem like it has a final ending. While it looks like we’ve reached the end of his quest, some obscure requirement may cause it to continue. However, we haven’t found any indicator this is the case.

First Location: East of Gatefront Ruins, Limgrave

Elden Ring Boc first Location

Players will first encounter Boc the Seamster near the telescope in Limgrave. He’ll call out, “Oi! You There! Could you help us out, cully? You, yeah, you there! Stop pretending you can’t see me.”

It can be tough to figure out where the voice is coming from if players don’t know what they’re looking for. Search for a small yellow tree and wack it with an attack. It’ll dispel the spell that turned Boc into a tree, and he’ll introduce himself. He’ll tell players that he was clicked out of a cave he was living in and that they took all his possessions. He gives players 10 mushrooms then says he intends to return to the cave to get a worthy reward.

Second Location: Coastal Cave, Limgrave

Elden Ring Boc Second Location

Unfortunately, Boc gets thrashed trying to get his property back. Players will have to clear out the cave and kill the two Demi-Human Chief bosses to get Boc’s stuff back.

After giving Boc his Sewing Needle and Tailoring Tools, he’ll thank the player and head on his way.

Third Location: Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace, Liurnia of the Lakes

Elden Ring Boc Third Location

Boc will greet the player and set up shop here for a while if met here. It’s not a requirement to visit him here to continue his quest.

Fourth Location: East Raya Lucaria Gate Site of Grace, Liurnia of the Lakes

Elden Ring Boc Fourth Location

Players can also meet Boc here and get clothing altered. After speaking with him, players can have a conversation with Melina about him at the next site of grace they stop at.

Fifth Location: Altus Highway Junction Site of Grace, Altus Plateau

Elden Ring Boc Fifth Location

Boc will give a small convo and offer to tailor players’ clothing.

Sixth Location: East Capital Rampart Site of Grace, Leyndell Royal Capital

Elden Ring Boc Sixth Location

Once Boc reaches the capital, he’ll have a lot of new dialog. Players should allow him to call them lord and get him the Gold Sewing Needle from the Church of Vows in Liurnia of the Lakes to move to the end portion of his quest.

Should I give Boc the Larval Tear in Elden Ring?

Elden Ring Boc Dead

Boc tells players that he believes he is ugly and wishes to be reborn as a human by using a Larval Tear. This is where the quest forks.

Players can either:

  • Give Boc a Larval Tear
  • Use the “You’re Beautiful” Prattling Pate

Giving Boc a Larval Tear will end in his death. Players will find him at the Grand Library of Raya Lucaria Academy unresponsive, and the next time they visit him, he’ll be dead.

The description text of the Great Rune of the Unborn tells us why:

“Amber egg clutched by Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. Great Rune of unborn demigods.

Perfects those who have been born anew.

Children born anew by Rennala are all frail and short-lived. Imperfect beings, each and all.”

Since Boc doesn’t have the Great Rune of the Unborn, he’s reborn without his memory and quickly dies.

By using the “You’re Beautiful” Prattling Pate (which can be found in the Hermit Village in Mt. Gelmir), Boc will get over his desire to be human and continue to live. Unfortunately, after that, Boc disappears from Leyndell at some point, and we haven’t figured out where he goes. We assume he survives, but as of now, we’re not sure if his quest ends at this point of he’s moved somewhere else. Perhaps the player’s belief in him gave Boc the self-esteem to strike out on his own. Hopefully, we’ll find out what happens to him in a DLC.
