“BLUFF” as a noun means “an attempt to deceive someone into believing that one can or is going to do something.” As a verb, it means to “try to deceive someone as to one’s abilities or intentions” or “survive a difficult situation by maintaining a pretense.” (Definitions from Oxford Languages)
The main challenge of “BLUFF” is, of course, the duplicate “F.” As most players don’t factor in duplicate letters until the latest stages of the game, the presence of a duplicate makes today’s answer significantly more difficult to find. Only the luckiest players will find this one within three guesses, that’s for sure! Thankfully, it’s a fairly common word, so those familiar with it may be able to guess it without confirming all five letters.
