Whether you’re just starting out at level 0 or are looking to optimize your level 15 Ranger, we’ll show you the best perks and skills to choose for the best Ranger build.
The best Ranger perks in Dark and Darker
The Ranger has nine perks to choose from. You’ll start out with one perk slot, maxing out at four at level 15. As you level up, add perks in this order to maximize your build’s effectiveness.
- Nimble Hands
This perk raises your shooting speed by 15%. Considering how many arrows you’ll fire in a game, this can have a massive effect on your overall damage output. - Sharpshooter
Sharpshooter raises your headshot damage by 15%. This is a little tricky to pull off, so if you’re struggling to land consistent headshots, choose it for your third or fourth perk instead. - Kinesthesia
As the Ranger, you’ll constantly be aiming, which slows you down. Kinesthesia raises your movement speed by 10%, which can give you just the edge you need. - Ranged Weapons Expert
This perk increases all ranged damage by 5%. It doesn’t sound like much, but when stacked on top of the previous perks, it can have a massive effect.
These perk choices will work for any Ranger build, but if you prefer the crossbow, swap out Ranged Weapons Expert for Crossbow Mastery (50% faster weapon reload and movement speed, 5% increased damage)
The best Ranger skills in Dark and Darker
Two skills can be chosen at a time in Dark and Darker. The Ranger can choose from five, but depending on your team, the best build will vary. However, we recommend these two for most situations.
- Field Ration
While it doesn’t provide any specific Ranger benefits, the ability to heal 25 HP is always helpful. - Quick Fire
While Quick Fire only increases your attack speed by five seconds, most fights will only last that long. With the extra 50% attack speed, they’ll likely be over much faster.
If you have a Cleric in your team, we recommend changing out Field Ration for Quickshot (fire three arrows at once), as you can rely on them for your healing.
