Many TikTok users have wondered whether Scar Girl’s scar is real. Scar Girl, whose handle is @wtmab, has been on the platform for around two years. In that time, she’s gained more and more attention for the dark brown curving scar that runs across her cheek. Thousands have debated over whether it’s real or whether she was drawing it on for attention. Fortunately, we got the definitive answer earlier this month.
Is the Scar Girl from TikTok’s scar real?
Scar Girl’s scar is real, according to Rolling Stone. Reporters from that publication met with Annie Bonelli (Scar Girl’s actual name) in early 2023 and interviewed her about her unexpected internet stardom.
When asked how she got the scar, Bonelli explained that it was originally fainter. However, he was insecure about it and tried a topical treatment to try and accelerate the healing. Unfortunately, instead of making it less noticeable, the treatment chemically burned the scar, which resulted in its current appearance.
Rolling Stone reported that Bonelli didn’t wear makeup for the interview, and the scar is obviously real. So, Scar Girl isn’t faking it for the TikTok views.
How did the TikTok Scar Girl get her scar?
When asked, Scar Girl declined to describe how she got the scar. From comments on past TikTok videos, it seems to be related to domestic violence. However, the scar’s current form was caused by the chemical burn we mentioned above.
