You’re not alone if you’re having issues with the PSVR 2 slipping on your head. While many users find the headset incredibly comfortable, it’s meant to fit in a particular way. Unfortunately, for a small part of the population, the PSVR 2 won’t stay in place no matter how much they try to adjust it. The headset just came out, so there aren’t many third-party accessories to help get a better fit. However, there are a few fixes to make the PSVR 2 fit better that we’ll cover below.
How to keep the PSVR 2 from sliding off your head
If your PSVR 2 won’t stay in place, there are a few things you can try:
- Make sure it’s adjusted properly.
- Try a third-party accessory to minimize slip.
- Use a DIY solution.
Make sure it’s adjusted properly
The PSVR 2 is supposed to be worn differently than most headsets. Unlike the Meta Quest, Vive, and Index, where the band fits horizontally around the skull, the PSVR 2 is supposed to be worn at around a 45-degree angle.
The rear part of the band should be tucked under your occipital bone. Once it’s in place, you can tighten it by rotating the dial on the rear of the headset clockwise. For most people, this will allow the back of the PSVR 2 to wedge comfortably in the “pit” of the skull and keep it from moving.
The advantage of this type of band is that it’s easy to find the “sweet spot” for the PSVR 2. Most people only need to tighten the headset, move the eyepieces toward their face, and set the Pupillary Distance, and they’re good to go.
The disadvantage is that the headset won’t fit properly for people with dainty occipital bones (like me) or longer hair (also like me).
If you have longer hair, try to put it in a top knot or wear a beanie or cap. This might provide enough friction that the headset won’t slip upward.
Try a third-party accessory to minimize slip
There aren’t a ton of third-party accessories out for the PSVR 2 yet, but there’s one that purports to solve the issue of slippage. Studioform Creative sells a PSVR 2 comfort kit that includes a head strap and two 75-gram weights you can strap to the rear of the headband. Ideally, these can help balance the front-heavy headset better, and the head strap should allow you to redistribute the weight along the top of your head. Using the two together should shift the axis and keep the PSVR 2 from sliding upward.
The downside to this solution is that it can be tougher to find a good fit. You’ll end up fiddling with it trying to find the perfect balance that allows you to keep the headset in one place and see clearly.
Use a DIY solution.
Reddit has several DIY solutions for the issue of PSVR 2 slippage. However, we recommend caution when attempting to perform any DIY modifications on the headset. Most of these are non-destructive, but there’s always the chance you could damage it when trying one of these fixes.
