A Diablo 4 Untamed Thicket bug as part of the Fangs of Corruption main quest is impacting many players. The glitch tends to occur more often on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, but it’s possible for PC players to experience a crash or freeze as well. The official Blizzard forums are filled with users who report problems with the Untamed Thicket, stating that they can’t progress in the game even after restarting the game multiple times. Fortunately, there are several solutions you can try to fix this issue that have reportedly worked.
How to fix Diablo 4 Untamed Thicket bug, crash, and freeze
Here are some methods you can try to fix the Diablo 4 Untamed Thicket bug, so you can progress through the main campaign:
- Disable cross-play – At the title screen before starting a session, head to the game’s settings and disable all cross-play features including platform player search and cross-chat.
- Switch World Tier difficulty – You can also try switching between the World Tier 1 and World Tier 2 difficulties before restarting the game and logging in.
- Create a town portal before entrance – Several steps before entering the Untamed Thicket, open up a town portal. You can then either take the town portal back to the entrance or head to a nearby waypoint and walk to the entrance.
- Do a side quest – Switch gears and finish a side quest instead, particularly in the town of Tirmair that’s southwest of the thicket. This may help get you past the entrance when you return.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear what is causing this bug to happen to some players and not others. Some users on the official Blizzard forums report that this freezing glitch had caused them to restart the game five or more times without any changes.
This Untamed Thicket bug is particularly awful because you’re required to enter this area to progress through the main quest. Blizzard has a lot of severe bugs like this to work out with a patch or hotfix.
