Final Fantasy 16 choice of cloth

Final Fantasy 16 Which Cloth is More to Your Liking: Does ‘Cut From the Cloth’ Choice Matter?

In Final Fantasy 16, you’ll be asked which cloth is more to your liking when completing the “Cut From the Cloth” sidequest. You’ll likely wonder whether it matters or not if you choose between black, white, and red. We’ll give you the answer to how much your choice of cloth affects FF16 below.

Does it matter which cloth is more to your liking in Final Fantasy 16?

It doesn’t matter which cloth you pick in “Cut From the Cloth” in Final Fantasy 16. You get three choices:

  • Black Embroidered Linen
  • White Continental Silk
  • Lush Red Velvet

Your choice here doesn’t affect the outcome of the quest at all. No matter which you pick, you’ll get 50 Steelsilk for completing the quest.

However, if you do complete the quest, you can access an optional dialog scene with Jill just before the last battle. To do so, wait until you’re just about to enter the final fight and talk to Jill. She’ll speak to you and give you something she’s made out of the cloth Hortense gave to her. However, you don’t get a visual of what she made. Like in many entries in the series, the characters just pantomime handing an item over.

That’s the only change we saw concerning the cloth. Some players have stated that they believe some NPC outfits change after completing this quest. However, we haven’t been able to confirm this on our end.

The choice of cloth doesn’t impact the overall storyline or character progression in Final Fantasy 16. Regardless of the selection, the item Jill gives you is simply implied to exist; it doesn’t make an actual appearance in your inventory and doesn’t offer any stat boosts or other in-game benefits.

The choice may serve to personalize your experience with the narrative. In this intimate exchange, Jill gives the impression of having crafted something special from the cloth, though its specific form is left to the player’s imagination. This creates a more immersive and intimate connection with the character.
