Arye makes a sudden appearance in Armored Core 6, leaving us to wonder who she is. She’s obviously sentient and has her own agenda, but she refers to herself as “Rubiconian.” Since there’s no record in the game of intelligent life other than humans, it leaves us to wonder where she came from and why she’s helping Unit 621.
Who is Arye in Armored Core 6?
You come into contact with Arye in Armored Core 6 after Unit 621 is exposed to a large amount of Coral. She becomes a secondary handler and sends 621 on missions when Walter is away. She’s very enigmatic and refers to herself as a Rubiconian, despite there being no native life on the planet.
It’s through Arye that you learn that the Coral isn’t just an energy resource; it’s a lifeform. The “strands” of Coral are all individuals that are killed as the substance is used. So, any technology that uses Coral is effectively killing sentient beings.
Arye pairs with 621 because of his sensitivity to Coral, which is caused by his 4th generation augments. She hopes that by guiding him, she can eventually unlock the potential of a human and Rubiconian fusion. Instead of humanity burning the Coral or the corporations using it for personal gain, Arye wants the two species to cooperate and join together.
You can choose to join her and take on the corporations and Overseer. Alternatively, you can turn against Arye, and she’ll leave. If so, you’ll have to face her as you either try to claim the Coral for gain or burn it with Overseer.
Your choice determines which ending you get in Armored Core 6 and what Arye’s ultimate fate will be. She believes that Unit 621 is the key to saving Rubicon, but you’ll need to decide whether she’s just someone else trying to use 621 or not.
