Pillars of Eternity Goes Gold, Ready for Launch on March 26

Paradox Interactive and Obsidian Entertainment have announced that the fan-funded Pillars of Eternity has finally gone gold and is ready for launch on March 26 for Windows, Mac, and Linux PC.

The original Kickstarter under "Project Eternity" was fully funded on October 16, 2012 (wow, has it been that long?) and currently holds the tenth highest-funded Kickstarter of all time, raking in nearly $4 million. It clearly marked the return of classic RPGs in the style of Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment.

Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian Entertainment, stated in an official press release that they still can't believe the fan response for Pillars of Eternity:

When we took our idea to Kickstarter, our fans got behind us more than we ever thought… It's crazy to think that more than two years have come and gone, but time flies that way when you are creating something as important as Pillars of Eternity has become to us.

Pre-ordering Pillars of Eternity will net you a Giant Miniature Space Piglet companion and Gaun's Pledge ring in the game. You can purchase three different editions as well, with the Hero Edition as the base game ($44.99), the Champion Edition coming with the soundtrack and digital assets ($59.99), and the Royal Edition that includes everything in the Champion Edition plus a digital collector's book, strategy guide, and novella by Chris Avellone ($89.99).
