Porsche Breaks Free of EA Exclusivity, Coming to Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Motorsport 6

Car fans everywhere have suffered for many years from EA's exclusivity with Porsche. Games such as Forza Motorsport 5, Project Cars, and Gran Turismo 6 have had to find workarounds to introduce Porsche vehicles in its games, usually depending upon heavily modified racing models or Ruf productions to avoid a lawsuit.

Those days are long over, as Microsoft has struck a deal with EA to bring Porsche to the Forza franchise this year. Starting tomorrow, a Porsche Expansion will be available for Forza Horizon 2 that unlocks each of the following revered vehicles:

  • 1970 Porsche 914/6
  • 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3
  • 1987 Porsche 959
  • 1989 Porsche 944 Turbo
  • 2003 Porsche Carrera GT
  • 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 (997)
  • 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S
  • 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder
  • 2015 Porsche Cayman GTS
  • 2015 Porsche Macan Turbo

The addition of the GT3 and 918 Spyder are the highlights of the show. They are considered two of the most mechanically impressive cars on the planet, with the 918 Spyder being one of the top three fastest road cars in existence.

As exciting as it is that Porsche will be joining the Forza Horizon 2 roster tomorrow, what's perhaps even better is the confirmation that the manufacturer will be featured in the upcoming Forza Motorsport 6. Supposedly over 400 vehicles will be available in the game, and Microsoft has stated that Porsche will stand among them.

We'll be finding out more about Forza Motorsport 6 at E3. For now, check out the Forza Horizon 2 Porsche Expansion trailer below.
