StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void Prologue Missions Now Available to Those Who Pre-Purchase

While StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void won't be out until this Winter, you can play a prologue of the expansion starting today.

Blizzard has announced that pre-purchase of Legacy of the Void is now available at $39.99. Those who order through Battle.net will immediately be able to play three new missions titled "Whispers of Oblivion" that tie the events of Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void together. In addition, pre-orders at select retailers will allow players to participate in the Legacy of the Void closed beta where units and buildings are still being tested for balance.

In the "Whispers of Oblivion" prologue missions, Dark Templar Zeratul seeks to understand the Xel'naga prophecy. Story development plays a major role in the missions, making them a must-play for those who have been following StarCraft's narrative.

Speaking of which, Legacy of the Void is the final expansion for StarCraft 2, and will mark the completion of StarCraft's current story timeline, one that has been ongoing since 1998. It will include new units, maps, as well as an all-new Archon Mode where two players can share command of a single faction.

If you're new to the StarCraft experience, Blizzard has lowered the barrier of entry by making Heart of the Swarm a standalone package, allowing you to skip Wings of Liberty.
