Expect to See More Remastered Games for PS4

If you thought we had seen the last of remastered titles for Sony's current-gen console, you're in for a rude awakening, as Sony has revealed that it's "very likely" we'll see more prior-gen classics get a fresh coat of paint for PlayStation 4.

According to SCEE president Jim Ryan, who spoke with PlayStation DE (via GamingBolt), games like The Last of Us Remastered and the forthcoming Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection could be just the tip of the iceberg as far as polished up re-releases are concerned.

"We know that there are lots of PS4 owners that have either never played games before or used to have an Xbox or a Nintendo who have never had the chance to play something like the Uncharted trilogy," Ryan explained. "But it has to be a great game if we’re going to go to the trouble of remastering. I can’t talk specifically, but I think that it’s very likely that there’ll be more."

Are you excited at the prospect of more remastered games coming to PlayStation 4? If so, which titles would you like to see come to the system, complete with a fresh coat of paint? I for one would love to replay the Resistance trilogy in glorious 1080p, running at a silky smooth 60 frames-per-second.

That said, I really hope this doesn't mean we're getting more re-releases of old games in lieu of brand-new experiences. After all, PlayStation 4 is hurting for exclusive games as far as 2015 is concerned, and I'd hate to see a repeat of that in the years to come.

Sadly, it doesn't look like a remastered Mass Effect Trilogy is coming anytime soon. Here's to hoping all three chapters of BioWare's sci-fi role-playing saga at least make their way to PlayStation Now before Andromeda releases next year.
