The wait until 2016 for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is tough, but the upcoming Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection makes it a bit more bearable. Now the re-release of the first three games has a new story trailer.
The trailer leans heavily on Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception for obvious reasons, but there are clips of all three games in the video. The HD remaster treatment looks impressive, though it's not surprising given Bluepoint Games' involvement. The company also developed the HD re-releases of God of War, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus, and Metal Gear Solid.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection includes additional content beyond the visual upgrade. The game introduces an explorer mode for beginners, a speed run mode for those hoping to make it to AGDQ, and a new brutal difficulty that unlocks after completing the game on crushing difficulty.
The game also adds new trophies and character skins. That means "you can even play all three single-player games in the collection as Doughnut Drake." I won't do that, but I expect some wonderful YouTube videos from the Uncharted community.
I'm not sure how many people missed out on the Uncharted series on PlayStation 3, but now is a great time to play through those games in anticipation of Uncharted 4. The mechanics and spectacle of the series hold up well, and Nathan Drake's trademark charisma never goes out of style.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection comes out on October 9 for PlayStation 4.
