Bethesda Details Fallout 4 Season Pass, Update Plans

Fallout 4, perhaps the biggest game release of the year, comes out in just a couple of months. Considering its size and scope, DLC is inevitable. Earlier today Bethesda addressed the topic in a new post on its site.

According to the post, Bethesda "[doesn't] know what the actual DLC will be yet," but the company plans to start releasing add-ons early next year. They can obviously be purchased separately as they come out, but Bethesda also mentions a $30 season pass for content that "will be worth at least $40." It will include all additional content for Fallout 4 over its lifespan.

Bethesda also plans to work on regular free updates for the game, much like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The post reminds fans that the free updates for Skyrim included new features such as kill cams and mounted combat, so Fallout 4 will get the same treatment.

Mods and the creation kit are also mentioned briefly, and those will come out in early 2016 as well. PC owners will be able to use the same tools as the developers, and all mods will eventually be compatible with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Season passes can be hit-or-miss, but Bethesda has a penchant for making compelling DLC if Fallout 3 and Skyrim were any indication. I'm sure Fallout fans will happily purchase the season pass for Fallout 4 with the promise of more quests and storylines.
