Ubisoft Enters VR Market With Werewolves Within, a Multiplayer Party Game

Given that price of entry for virtual reality will be extraordinarily high, software will play a pivotal role in the fate of the technology. Up to this point most of the games demonstrated for VR have been low-budget productions published under commonly unknown companies, but now even Ubisoft is looking to break into the market.

Ubisoft has announced Werewolves Within, a virtual reality game for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR. Set in medieval times, its world has a werewolf problem, resulting in weekly attacks on villagers. Sitting around a campfire with others, you will try to determine who among those you're sitting with is a werewolves in human form. Persuasion and abilities will be used as you interrogate others before placing your bet and condemning who you believe to be the werewolf. Players taking on the role of the werewolf are tasked with lying effectively to reflect suspicion onto an innocent player.

It's a unique premise that will provide one of VR's first multiplayer focused experiences, supporting up to eight local and/or online players.

Werewolves Within will release in Fall 2016.
