Pokémon Go Banned by Iran’s High Council of Virtual Spaces

Iran has become the first country to ban Niantic's Pokémon Go outright, according to a BBC report, over what it calls "security concerns."

Apparently, all it takes to breach Iran's security is an mobile game about catching cute, fake monsters. But in all seriousness, there are indeed security concerns with the game, with the US military issuing a series of restrictions and guidelines regarding Pokémon Go.

The country's High Council of Virtual Spaces (which sounds like the name of a Dark Elf hacking group) and other Iranian authorities reached out to Niantic last month to ask for cooperation before deciding on the ban.

That said, this ban is nothing that a VPN can't solve, so there are plenty of ways for Iranian players to access Pokémon Go against the wishes of the government ban.
