Friday the 13th: The Game Delayed to Add Single Player, Offline Mode

In a huge update for the upcoming Friday the 13th: The Game, the developers announced that the game will be delayed from a release in late 2016 to a tiered release in Spring and Summer of 2017. This decision was made, the post states, because they need more time to add in the fan-demanded single player campaign and offline AI capabilities.

The asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror game, based around the horror franchise of the same name, where one person plays Jason Voorhees trying to kill seven campers, will now see a beta release in late 2016, a multiplayer release in Spring 2017 and the apparently coveted single player release in Summer 2017.

What this really means, though, is that they've missed their opportunity to release Friday the 13th: The Game actually on Friday the 13th. The next such day is in January, and there's not another Friday the 13th after that until October, 2017. Pity.

For those who have already backed the Friday the 13th: The Game or pre-ordered it, the price will not change, and they won't be required to pay anything else. However, if you're late to the party, the price for the digital copy of the game will now be $40 instead of $30, while the physical copy remains at $60.

Thus far, the developers haven't received much pushback from the public about this, a rare phenomenon after a game is delayed. Randy Greenback of Gun Media commented on the Kickstarter update saying " It's rare that devs get to announce that a game is getting bigger and better for everyone! Though that comes with a delayed launch, we feel that the benefits far outweigh the additional time. It sounds like you all agree."

With the only competition in this genre being the flawed Dead By Daylight, take as much time as you need to get this one right.
