Final Fantasy XIII came on three DVDs when it released for the Xbox 360, because Square Enix couldn't fit all of the content on just one disc. People weren't exactly happy about this; no one likes switching discs. The upcoming sequel to FFXIII, FFXIII-2 will only come on one disc, but people are just as upset about this.
The biggest concern is that the game will be significantly smaller, as it's able to fit on just the one disc. Director Motomu Toriyama claims that's not the case and that the reduced data is due to the omission of the highly detailed CGI cutscenes, which are now rendered in real-time. He goes on to clarify that the game will feature around the same volume of content as FFXIII.
CGI cutscenes have long been a staple in Final Fantasy. Is that something you are going to miss? Or do you usually skip the cutscenes anyway? How do you feel about this news?
