We've seen many survival games over the years. Some are forgettable, while others have kept players occupied for months on end. These games have all shared their own distinct take on the genre, traveling from the archaic world of Rust, to the underwater bliss of Subnautica. Although each have advanced the genre in their own way, none have pushed it anywhere near its potential. Maybe Conan the Barbarian can do the trick.
Conan Exiles is a game by Funcom that blends the Conan the Barbarian universe with survival. Players are responsible for keeping fed and hydrated, in addition to crafting shelter in its large open wasteland. Social elements are important when the game is played in multiplayer, where players can choose to ally with one another, or take up arms and fight to the death. Although multiplayer is where the game is expected to be most memorable, a single-player mode will be available.
Funcom has announced that Conan Exiles will be entering Early Access on January 31st. While this Early Access will be exclusive to PC, an Xbox One beta of sorts is scheduled to arrive during Spring 2017.
A new CGI trailer has debuted to showcase the vibe that Funcom is aiming for. Seen above, it's brutal, but just what many gamers have been looking for.
