Pillars of Eternity Is Getting a Sequel, Will Be Crowdfunded

Obsidian Entertainment has announced that it is currently working on Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, a sequel to 2015's award-winning cRPG.

Pillars of Eternity 2 will be set on the islands of Deadfire, a diverse region home to unending conflict between trading companies, locals, and pirates. Characters, both new and old, will be featured in an epic story that continues where the original left off, going as far as allowing players to import their saves.

At the beginning of the story Eothas, the god of light and rebirth, will destroy the place you call home. From there your journey will take you across Deadfire as you search for answers.

Inhabitants of Deadfire will play a crucial role in your discovery. They are said to "have lives of their own", behaving similarly to real people as they go about their daily business.

Pillars of Eternity 2 is being designed similarly to its predecessor, featuring multi-character parties, a wide range of skills and weapons to equip, and a traditional top-down view.

Without a large publisher to back it, Obsidian Entertainment has opened a crowdfunding campaign for the title. The Fig hosted campaign has a goal of $1.1 million.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire will be exclusive to PC, and currently has no estimated release window.
