Bandai Namco saddened the gaming world today with the announcement that Masaya Nakamura, the founder of Namco considered the "father of Pac-Man" died on Jan. 22, 2017, at age 91.
Originally announced via press release, Nakamura's death was kept private due to family wishes, with a small funeral held on Wednesday.
Nakamura founded Namco in 1955 and became a major player in what we now know as the "golden age" of arcade gaming, most famously with its Pac-Man series, in which Nakamura had a heavy hand.
It's safe to say that he will be missed and mourned by the gaming community, who will struggle to replicate his influence in the years to come.
