Confirming rumors throughout the internet, Electronic Arts has announced their remake of Midway's classic NFL Blitz series that serves a mean counterpoint to EA's Madden series. Of course, since EA has the NFL license this time around, we're just going to see Electronic Arts competing against, well, itself. And the license itself doesn't hurt.
Electronic Arts is comfortable with remakes, considering their experience with NBA Jam, and putting this revival in the hands of EA Tiburon is smart. I'm sure they're tired of minor Madden updates by now.
Some hands-on details with EGM reveals that the remake stays true with the original: 30-yard first downs, 2-minute quarters, ridiculous tackles, exaggerated muscles, classic cheats, and a lack of proper refereeing. To bring it into modern times, the graphics engine has been completely revamped, a ton of modes have been added including online, and well, let's just say that you should expect a DLC and pre-order program that we've come to expect from EA now…
