The 3DS was off to a slow start – there's no denying that. But you also can't overlook the strides its taken recently thanks to a significant price drop and the release of high-profile games like Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land.
The combination of a more appealing price and new games to play that you can't find anywhere else has led to a sales spike, and the 3DS is just days away from crossing the three million units sold mark.
Nintendo told Japan's Nikkei newspaper that they fully expect the 3DS to reach four million sold by the handheld's one-year anniversary.
