Earlier this week we reported that the PlayStation Vita was limited to only one PSN account, and in order to change PSN accounts, you would have to do a factory reset. This isn't exactly the case, and Sony has provided some clarity on the matter.
At a recent press event in NYC, Sony associate brand marketing manager Cyrstal MacKenzie told Wired.com that the PSN account is tied to the Vita's memory card, not the hardware itself, and you can use multiple memory cards to access additional PSN accounts per system.
Your PSN ID is bonded to your memory card and your memory card is bonded to your Vita. So if you wanted to change different PSN users but use the same memory card, you would need to go factory reset.
Not as bad as it originally seemed, but it does mean you will have to purchase more expensive memory cards if you plan on using different PSN accounts. This makes the PlayStation Vita a costly sell to families with children who plan on sharing the handheld. That is unless they want to share a single PSN account as well.
The PlayStation Vita is an amazing system, but recent news about the memory cards and pricing may end up holding it back from greatness.
