Sony Hacker Flees to South America

In a civil suit by Sony against hacker George Hotz (aka "GeoHot"), Sony has discovered that the homebrew hacker has run away to South America to escape jurisdiction in California. In an official document filed by Sony:

Hotz has engaged in a campaign to thwart jurisdictional discovery at every turn – regardless of whether the Court has ordered such discover or not… SCEA learned that Hotz had deliberately remove integral components of his impounded hard drives prior to delivering them to a third-party neutral that Hotz is not in South America.

Sony also claims that Hotz lied about not having a PSN account, which if he did, means that he's subject to the PSN User Agreement. They say that he created an account under "blinkmaniac" that is tied to his address, but they will likely need to prove that George Hotz is the one who created the account and not someone else.

Now, Hotz is reportedly not a pirate of any sort; he is a homebrew hacker. Indeed, his claim to fame was hacking cellular phones. Whether or not he actually broke a law is up for grabs, but that he may have lied in court under oath is less so.
