Pachter Says Battlefield 3 Has No Chance Of Topping Next Call Of Duty

With no release date for Battlefield 3 or the next iteration in Call of Duty's line, the fall shooter space is really anyone's game. That doesn't stop Michael Pachter from making predictions though.

When asked about Battlefield 3's chances of outselling Call of Duty, Pachter does his best evil laugh and proceeds to spit on Battlefield 3's pre-dug grave:

There is no prayer that Battlefield 3 will top the next Call of Duty, silly question. EA is trying to gain share incrementally, and I'm sure that if it is a great game, Battlefield 3 will sell 25-35% more copies than the last version. It would have to sell around 300% more than the last version to topple Call of Duty.

The question you didn't ask is whether Battlefield 3 will take share; based upon the growing installed base of CoD multiplayer players, it's possible that BOTH games will see higher sales in 2011, so I wonder whether EA will actually "take" share.

EA and Activision, Battlefield and Call of Duty; obviously there's a lot at stake in that rivalry but aren't we getting a little deep into our crystal balls?

No one has even heard a single official piece of information about the next Call of Duty game. Battlefield 3 has been seen but far from played by anyone outside of its development house. How about we wait a while bef—-

"DO HO HO, CALL OF DUTY IS BETTER!"

Shut up, Pachter!
