Fans Document Huge List Of Errors In Newest Mass Effect Novel

The Mass Effect novels have been absolutely fantastic…until the latest one, Mass Effect: Deception, hit the shelves this week. There are apparently an insurmountable list of inconsistencies with the Mass Effect universe, so many, in fact, that a team of fans have created a public Google doc for fans to list any errors they have found.

I skimmed through the list a bit, and I am appalled. Some errors seem to have been written by the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons, but others point out egregious errors that could have been corrected if the author read the Mass Effect wikipedia page.

Since the first three were great, I have to conclude that this one has so many garish errors because it was written by a different author. The first three books were written by Drew Karpyshyn, who was a lead writer for Mass Effect. Obviously, this is someone who knows the Mass Effect universe quite well.

This fourth book was written by William C. Dietz, who is a notable sci-fi author, but he has had nothing to do with the series until now. And apparently it shows.

Personally, I'm very disappointed. I bought the fourth book but haven't had a chance to start reading it. Now it seems that I have even less motivation to do so.
