Overly eccentric, yet endlessly talented, David Jaffe is known for making great games, notably, God of War and Twisted Metal. But before the PS3's first Twisted Metal game will hit retail, Jaffe is reported to have left Eat Sleep Play, developer of the upcoming Twisted Metal, and a company he co-founded.
The Salt Lake City Tribune says that Eat Sleep Play has laid-off roughly 20% of their workforce, and will refocus their development efforts on making games for the iPhone and iPad.
Eat Sleep Play's other co-founder, Scott Campbell, claims that Jaffe left to pursue "casual" games, as well.
He’s excited to go into the casual space as well. He’s got some projects that he’s excited about. So we’re kind of going down two separate paths.
Jaffe fired back via Twitter, saying that reports of him making casual games are "highly exaggerated". Jaffe didn't refute the claim that he has parted ways with Eat Sleep Play.
Twisted Metal releases next week exclusively for the PS3.
