If there's one company who knows how to successfully market their games, it's Sony Microsoft. Because the 'Big M' isn't afraid to drop loads of cash into advertising, it has really paid off for the company in the long run. Whether you'd like to admit it or not, Oprah did wonders for the Kinect.
So the fact that Microsoft is truly going all out for Halo 4 should come as no surprise to anyone with a healthy amount of common sense. Their major marketing push will manifest itself in the form of a five-part live-action series dubbed Forward Unto Dawn. The series will serve as Microsoft's "largest investment" to date, outdoing the similar shorts that surrounded the launch of Halo 3, which were done by District 9 director Neill Blomkamp.
We don't know a whole lot about exactly what will be featured in the videos, aside from the fact that they will center around a young UNSC cadet. Expect to find out more from 343i at this year's Comic-Con. According to the studio's director of franchise business management Matt McCloskey, the purpose of the series is “to make ‘Halo’ accessible for people who haven’t played the games. We wanted to do something unique from a narrative standpoint that’s big in scale.”
Halo 4 is set to launch on November 6th.
