Job Listings Point To Next-Gen Xbox Title From Rare

A handful of new job listings for a position at Rare have surfaced online and based on the descriptions, it looks like the developer is cooking up something big for the next Xbox. One listing in particular is for a principal rendering engineer who can “understand, assess and be capable of implementing real-time rendering techniques made possible by DirectX 11.” Those of you tech-savvy folk will know that DirectX11 isn't support by the Xbox 360, a technology that is believed to be featured in the next Microsoft console.

In addition, it looks like the studio is gearing up for a free-to-play game, as a listing for a principal producer, requires that the applicant who has "experience around delivering and running online services or Free-to-play experiences would be a distinct advantage.”

This is the same studio that brought us the Kinect Sports games, Viva Pinata and Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. They're also the same developer behind the adorable Xbox Live avatars. Back in the retro days, this studio brought us a number of fantastic titles, not the least of which include Goldeneye 007Perfect Dark, and Conker's Bad Fur Day. Unfortunately, the studio went through a lot of changes after being picked up by Microsoft, so don't expect anything along those lines from them again.

But Rare, for the love of all that is good, please give us something other than another Kinect Sports.
