Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Has Reached Another Incredible Sales Milestone

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is still selling by the bucket load, despite everyone and his / her mother now presumably owning a copy of the retro remaster trilogy.

The collection has pushed past the 2.5 million point globally, according to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, with this number accounting for both its retail and digital sales. This data also matches up with VG Chartz‘s estimations, who stated that the PS4 exclusive has surpassed 2 million units as of the week ending August 5. With nearly two months having transpired since that date, the 2.5 million figure seems likely and sets up Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy to be one of the most successful games of the year thus far.

To give this figure some context, the original Crash Bandicoot had sold 6.8 million units as of 2003, seven years following its initial release on the PlayStation in 1996. It was the seventh best-selling PlayStation game of all time, and now Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is on track to beat it, racking up nearly a third of its sales within the same year as its release. When compared with modern platforming games, the PS4 launch title Knack has shifted 2 million units, which is still an impressive amount considering the game’s poor critical reception, but still left firmly in the shade by the N. Sane Trilogy.

As of August 5 the trilogy was the fourth best-selling game globally, and it looks on track to pass the 4 million mark by the end of the year, depending upon how well it performs in the holiday season. It seems all but inevitable that Sony will now greenlight a new Crash game from Vicarious Visions, who were responsible for remastering Naughty Dog’s original trilogy, and it could well lead to the revival of a number of old Sony mascots including Spyro the Dragon.
