Destiny 2 1.1.4 Update

Destiny 2 1.1.4 Update Brings Back Original Destiny PVP Gameplay

During its weekly development blog post, Bungie offered a few details on what players can expect from the Destiny 2 1.1.4 update. Scheduled to release on March 27th, the next patch will focus on improving the sandbox and Crucible multiplayer. In today’s blog post, Bungie brought in PVP Design Lead Derek Carroll to provide a preview of what’s to come to Destiny 2‘s competitive multiplayer.

Destiny 2 1.1.4 Update: Crucible Changes

Carroll’s chosen highlights for how Crucible will change following the Destiny 2 1.1.4 update include: a 6v6 mode, the return of Rumble (free-for-all), Doubles will be getting more polish and other improvements that will “make everyone’s lives better (unless they’re habitual quitters).”

The 6v6 mode, which should play similarly to the original Destiny‘s PVP, will be experienced exclusively in the Iron Banner. In addition to the increased player count, Bungie has also tweaked the following:

  • Match time limit is 12 minutes
  • Score limit is 125 points
  • Respawn time is 7 seconds
  • All control zones start off neutral
  • Control zones take slightly longer to capture by default
  • Additional Guardians (max of 3) in a zone increases capture speed
  • Guardians participating in a capture get more Super energy

Destiny 2 1.1.4 Update

The return of Rumble is great news for anyone like me, who enjoys the “lone wolf” life. The free-for-all game type returns, this time with a player count of eight.

Mayhem is unchanged, and will still be absolutely bonkers. Iron Banner, Rumble, and Mayhem will all rotate in a weekly featured playlist. Once sufficiently polished, Doubles (last seen during Crimson Days) will also be added to the weekly rotation.

Before the big Destiny 1.1.4 update lands, players will be able to take part in the Iron Banner beginning March 6 and ending March 13.
